Tonga Whale Swimming & Watching Tours

Dive into the enchanting waters of Tonga for an extraordinary adventure, where you can swim alongside majestic whales, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Whats the plan?

Each day on the water holds its own unique surprises. Throughout the season, whales are usually just beyond the lagoon, making for a short trip to encounter them; however, on some days, locating them may take a bit more time.

Our attentive staff will always ensure that you have an exceptional experience by incorporating alternative activities like snorkeling or swimming with our amiable reef sharks, rays or dolphins. We will also show you some of the secret islands in the area.

Each day we spend approximately half a day on the water, we then return to land, allowing you time to reflect on your experiences or explore other thrilling opportunities on the island.

Embark on our exclusive 6-day whale swimming tours in Tonga, available from July to October, featuring small group sizes with a maximum of 8 passengers to guarantee an exceptional experience.

In Tonga’s captial Nuku’alofa, you will board our vessel the Ika (or ‘fish’ in Tongan). Our dedicated skipper and guide will greet you and settle you in on the boat, before taking you on your adventure in the water each day.

The Ika provides ample shade, comfortable seating, and fresh fruit and juice for a delightful journey.

  • While Tonga's whale season boasts balmy days averaging 27°C (80.6°F), a sprinkle of unpredictability can add intrigue to your adventure. Sunshine reigns, but an occasional tropical downpour might sweep in, cooling things down and reminding you to pack layers. Trade winds keep things airy, and the ocean remains a balmy 24°C (75°F) - perfect for encounters with those gentle giants. Though weather can be a tad more whimsical than other months, the thrill of whale watching during peak season (September-October) often outweighs any fleeting showers. So come prepared for a touch of adventure alongside your sunshine and breathtaking marine encounters.

When we go out, anticipate spending the entire time at sea, as we only return to the dock in the event of an onboard emergency.
